I’m presently Visiting Assistant Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. I’m currently teaching courses on queer theory, social media, and media and cultural analysis. See my Courses page for more information about past and future courses.
My research focuses on the intersections between political identity, subculture, consumption, embodied performance, and sexuality. I’m currently writing a book about practices of political engagement among anarchist activists, titled Lifestyle Politics and Radical Activism. You can see my Publications page for more info if you’re interested!
I’m also working on a research project about media refusal. I’m exploring what I call “conspicuous non-consumption” by people who choose not to participate in new social media platforms. I will be presenting this work at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies annual conference in Boston, and at the Theorizing the Web conference at the University of Maryland.
